Canon recently announced its first full-frame mirrorless camera and lens system, called EOS R.

The EOS R System features a large 54mm diameter inherited from the EF Mount augmented by both short back focus through the use of mirrorless technology. The RF Mount enables the RF Lenses to achieve peak optical performance. A new control ring was added while preserving a simple design and ease of use. The EOS R System also adds value to the EF and EF-S Lenses. The ability to use an innovative mount adapter allows users to harness the maximum potential of the existing lenses. Camera advancements continue to be made as well.

The Camera is built around a 30.3-megapixel full-frame sensor with an ISO range of 100-40.000 (expandable to 50-102.400), backed by a DIGIC 8 image processor. The autofocus system of the camera has a maximum of 5,655 AF points using Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF phase-detection system.

For those who already own EF and EF-S lenses, the EOS R offers full compatibility with an appropriate adapter – without sacrificing performance or quality. The Canon Speedlite flashes provide creative and flexible illumination and the EOS accessory opens up the possibilities for even more creativity.

The EOS R offers the same comfortable grip as an EOS DSLR and a great deal of configuration options. Innovations such as a multifunctional touch bar, a high-resolution electronic viewfinder and a rotating and swiveling display make the operation of this camera particularly easy and intuitive.

The full-frame mirrorless camera was specially designed for photographers and filmmakers who travel a lot. The constant Bluetooth Low Energy connection allows a smartphone to be permanently paired with the camera and the integrated WiFi allows immediate sharing of the images via a cloud service. Even more creative freedom is provided by remote-controlled recordings and tethered shoots.
