After the recent DJI event “Because Life is Big” took place in Manhattan, New York, it has finally come to light what new product DJI was working on over the past year – even if it was a surprise to the majority, because it was not a new drone nor a new stabilization system of the RONIN series, but an extension of the Osmo series: the DJI Osmo Pocket – a stabilized 3-axis gimbal. So far it is the smallest handheld gimbal made by DJI.

Tech Specs

The Osmo Pocket is equipped with a 1 / 2.3-inch sensor, an 80-degree field of view and a aperture of 1: 2. This allows you to record close ups without loosing image quality. You can also capture 4K / 60fps video at 100 Mbps and 12MP photos at 1.55 μm.

An integrated noiseless cooling system dissipates the heat evenly, ensuring a long service life and consistent performance. A built-in touch screen and buttons let the user select modes and adjust settings in just a few steps. Functions, such as ActiveTrack, Motionlapse and Panorama are quick and easy to select. The Osmo Pocket has a universal port that can connect a smartphone and a range of accessories. A connection between smartphone and gimbal is also possible wirelessly via a Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection. This way the Osmo Pocket can be controlled over a certain distance.

DJI developed a new app just for the small gimbal, the DJI Mimo. With this special app, content recorded using editing tools and templates can be edited and then shared within a community.

Osmo Pocket supports photography with intuitive features and allows for full customization. In Pro mode, the camera parameters and exposure can be adjusted manually. The powerful imaging features also allow you to capture photos in RAW format and D-Cinelike videos.

Through an underwater housing, the Osmo Pocket can also be used underwater. It holds depths up to 60m and is still able to provide clear and detailed shots in low light.
